When Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku was elected as the 10th democratically elected governor of Taraba state and subsequently sworn into office on may 29 2015, the Taraba Born urban planner, quintessential architect and astute university lecturer was not under the wrong impression that Governing a complex state like taraba was going to be an easy task.
That was why shortly after assuming office and despite the tough and tortuous legal battle mounted by the then opposition All progressives Congress in the elections petition tribunal, against his landslide victory at the polls. Governor Darius went about setting up the required administrative structures and resources necessary for activating the process of Governance in the state.
The Governor assumed office at a time there was a near catastrophic and colossal collapse in virtually all sectors of the State ranging from education, commerce, poverty alleviation and most importantly security.
Like a colossus that he is all the aforementioned challenges did not deter him in his quest to totally transform the state as encapsulated in the policy thrust of his rescue Mission government which is basically anchored on the provision of qualitative and affordable healthcare, enduring and classy infrastructure, qualitative and sound education as well as the provision of an effective and well structured security.
It is on record today that His Excellency having understood that in other to have a well disciplined and corrupt free society you need to have a very vibrant and effective judiciary. this he has done through the improvement in the allocation and utilization of funds meant for the judiciary, it is to his credit that the state high court is wearing a new look as well as the construction of modern court facilities in the various magisterial and area courts judicial jurisdictions.
The practice of retaining old court clerks as Presiding judges in the various area courts has been brought to a stop as qualified, well trained and adequately remunerated legal practitioners have been appointed to dispense justice without fear or favour.
As part of his Excellency’s quest to industrialize the state he has began a deliberate process aimed at reactivating and revitalizing moribund industries as well as establishing new ones worthy of mention is the tomato processing plant located at Lau which is currently receiving attention and the Highland tea located at the mambilla plateau which is currently In operation after years of hiatus.
The state capital Jalingo can be likened to a construction site as a visitor will be greeted with a plethora of projects currently ongoing like the multi billion naira flyover project, the road dualization project, the construction of the multi million naira mass housing estates and the construction of township roads within the metropolis as part of the Governor’s urban renewal drive.
One of the Governor’s legacy projects which shall gallantly stand on the sands of time in the agricultural sector is the conceptualization and construction to completion of the Taraba Green house project as part of His Excellency’s revolutionary Approach to transforming the sector for optimum benefit to tarabians.
The educational sector is not left out as primary and secondary schools in the state are receiving significant facelift through the renovation and construction of new sets of classrooms as well the payment of salaries as at when due no wonder the state is occupying a significant position by virtue of the rankings of WAEC a crediby examination body.
The list of Governor Darius Dickson ishaku’s Midas touch in virtually all aspects of the state economy is not exhaustive even as he has vowed to do more in line with the available resources at his disposal thereby making it mandatory for all right thinking tarabians to rise and support him.
