On Taraba news today
In a move to prevent the spread of the pandemic corona virus, The Taraba
state Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku had earlier this month
banned the movement of people from neighbouring state into Taraba state.
The governor also directed that all border in Taraba state be shut
down.
Bothered by the rapid spread of the virus in Nigeria and having index
case in neighbouring state like Adamawa, Benue and Gombe. The governor
through his deputy Engr. Haruna Manu on Wednesday announced a total
lockdown of all local movement in the state, starting from 22 of
April. The lock is expected to begin today today been Thursday. The
deputy governor also directed that any person found violating the order
should be arrested, prosecuted and have his vehicle impound. Situation
across key local government in the state revealed that the directive is
not been obey.
SITUATION REPORT IN JALINGO
Our correspondent in Jalingo confirmed that the lockdown is so effective
in Jalingo metropolis as no vehicle or person have do far been found
violating the directive by the governor.

No one has been found on the street so far except for those on
essential duties like Medical personnel's, Media, Pharmacist and the
rest who are exempted from this directive. Hotspot like Ma-Agwe
junction, Jalingo main Market and Jalingo motor park are on lock down.
Our correspondent revealed that Jalingo has never been this quite.
AT WUKARI
At wukari our correspondent disclosed that the lockdown is been relaxed
at the metropolis as of 11 am Thursday morning. Resident of Wukari are
been seen goin about their normal duty. Our correspondent also alleged
that about 200 vehicle were allowed from Benue into Taraba state between
the hours of 10pm-11pm.
The lockdown was only strict in the morning as coming into Taraba from
Benue through tge Wukari - Zaki Biam road were blocked from morning till
noon. This Vehicles resisted an attempt to have them return to where
they were coming from, the waited at the roadblock from morning till
around 10pm begore the security operative on the road allowed them to
pass through. Our correspondent could not comfirm if there was exchange
of money between the drivers and security men.
IN TAKUM
It is a pitiful situation in Takum as resident were seen moving around
without any measure, no face mask, no hand sanitizers, not even social
distancing is been observe in Takum local government. The people
appears unperturbed about the wide spread of the pandemic corona virus.
The Takum main market, Motor park as of 2pm Thursday are still
operational. Individuals were seen trooping in and out of the market.
Churches and mosques still go about there activities. The resident seems
ignorance of the lockdown directive. A resident of Takum Local
government Mallam Inusa Yahaha, told our correspondent that hi is not
aware of the lock down directive.
" i am not aware of the lockdown, because there was no announcement
locally by the town cryer, that is why i go about my normal duty" he
said.
Details about the lockdown in the remaining local government in the
state is still unavailable as of time of writing this report.
The Taraba state government is planning to mount surveillance in some
local government in the state to check the influx of traders into Taraba
state from neighbouring state.
Meanwhile Nigerian Governors are advocating for a nationwide lock down of the country for 14 days. |
